Iesta

The company

IESTA Musical Instruments is already looking back on fifteen years of successful development, making and worldwide distribution of high quality stringed instruments. The company, based in Karlsruhe, Germany since 1996 has established a sister company in the Chinese capital Beijing in 2001, which is also the location of the German-Chinese company's workshop. In this workshop, modern violins, violas, violoncellos and double basses are handcrafted by excellent Chinese instrument makers upon historical European models. Notably successful are the IESTA Celano series of Italian inspired modern instruments, which were developed in Beijing under the guidance and supervision of Italian, French and American instrument makers.

Around the year 2000 the company began developing and constructing replicas of baroque instruments  in various models. By now the worldwide and substantial progress in this field of activity is not least due to the enthusiastic echoes by "Early Music" experts and students.

IESTA's wide range of goods, including products by other selected manufacturers, moreover offers first quality bows from Suzhou as well as a variety of accessories. Furthermore, the company is a pioneer in the development of new technologies for the production of carbon bows.

     Mr. Liu Peng

The great achievement up to the present day is based on the unique concept of the company's founder and general manager Liu Peng. Before studying violin, baroque violin and chamber music in Germany he was Primarius of the Beijing String Quartet from 1980 until 1990. So he has all opportunities to unite the best from these cultures and to possess a significant pool of ideas and potentials for development. IESTA also needs to meet very special requirements. Therefore the use of best materials from all over the world is as self-evident as their careful processing and expert quality control of every single instrument. The close contact with the international clients and the coordinated organisational structure of IESTA in Beijing and Karlsruhe enable a rapid fulfilment of the clients’ wishes in highest quality – particularly with regard to special models.

This is made possible by the about 15 highly motivated and partly specialised violin makers who work, under good social conditions and in a nice working atmosphere, in the well-provided workshop in Beijing. The three well experienced and engaged employees in Karlsruhe dedicate themselves mainly to the customer service in Germany, Europe and overseas.
